Something around the house need fixing, improving, enhancing or changing in some way - boom - there's a tool for that. How about a toolkit for improving our spiritual lives? Yes, I know, we can pray, read Scripture, hang out with spiritually minded people, read devotional books, etc. BUT, what if we feel like we are in a spiritual rut, or plateau and that we just can't seem to "get going"? What then? What if there was a handy toolkit we could reach into and pull out a tool that could give our thinking a jolt in a way that could inspire us to move upward and onward?
Several years ago, when I was in graduate school, the "creative thinking bug" bit me. I had completed seminary and was working on my third graduate degree, an Ed.S. in education. I took a class called "Creativity in Teaching" and LOVED it. Over the ensuing years I earned a Certificate of Creative Studies from the SUNY, Buffalo. I then began doing creative thinking and creative problem solving workshops at corporations including FedEx, Jimmy Dean Foods, Allstate Insurance, Promus Hotels; and at organizations such as the Gospel Music Association, the Creative Education Foundation, and the American Creativity Association. It then occurred to me that the tools and techniques of creative thinking could be used to help spark growth in one's spiritual life, and so, this website was born!
The purpose of this "blog" is to serve as a toolkit where readers may reach in, pull out a tool, and use it to help stimulate growth in his or her spiritual life. What you will find here is a compilation of tools and techniques, creative ways to WAKE UP your spiritual life. I wish I could remove the post dates from the posts, since each of the tools offered here are timeless and may be used over and over again to address different seasons, circumstances, issues, and questions that spiritually minded people face on their journey through life.
May God bless you richly as you jump right into this toolkit and begin tinkering with your spiritual life and are transformed by the renewing of your mind.
